Firstly, I will explain what magnifying bifocals are. A magnifying bifocal is pair of glasses (in this case medium impact safety glasses) that have no prescription at the top of the lens. This is the bit in front of your eyes so you can see in the distance.
Then there is a sideways placed D-shaped segment that has magnification in it. The amount of magnification varies, allowing you to choose the most appropriate amount of magnification for you. Most of the styles have magnification ranging from +1.00 to +3.00 with +0.50 steps.
This works well if you don’t need any help seeing clearly in the distance and just need help with reading.
So why would you benefit from having a pair of magnifying bifocal safety glasses? Anyone that needs reading glasses to be able to see clearly up close, would benefit from having a pair of these and, therefore.
Safety glasses protect your eyes from impact injuries, chemicals, and dust. By having the magnifying segment, you can leave the safety glasses on and still see clearly up close. Making it much more likely that your vision is protected when you need it to be.
Unfortunately, accidents tend to occur once the safety glasses have come off. Which they tend to do when you take your glasses off to be able to read and you replace the safety glasses with your reading glasses.
By not having to remove your safety glasses you decrease the incidence of eye injuries substantially. Another reason that you can benefit from having them is that they are inexpensive so they are handy to have on hand when you are about to do something with your prescription safety glasses that are likely to scratch the lenses.
Magnifying bifocal safety glasses are available in clear and grey tinted lenses and there is also a light blue tint available in the Eyres 312Rx style.
If you don’t like the line delineating the bifocal area, then you might be interested in the Uvex magnifying safety glasses as they have a blended bifocal which doesn’t have a line. But they are substantially more expensive.
